ALCATEL FLASH Smartphone features upgrade as ‘Mobigraphy’ booms
With a good phone, there is no need to buy a camera.
In
an economy where smartphone ownership and internet usage continue to
grow,
the number of traditional camera users is seen to decline, according to
a Flickr review. In fact, the report added that popular smartphone
devices like iPhone took the sweet spots in the most used camera
category, leaving traditional cameras in seven other
seats of the top 20 list.
This
trend is evident in the number of gadgets being shipped in 2014, where
more than 1.3 billion smartphones were shipped globally in contrast to
the sharp decline of digital camera shipments. It was revealed that only
65 million cameras were shipped in the same year, less than half of the
count in 2010.
With
the increasing penetration of smartphones and their more and more
powerful
photography performance, traditional cameras have been marginalized.
For consumers, smartphones not only have easy-to-use camera features
that are enough for everyday use; this also makes photo-sharing easier
and faster.
To
meet the demands of these always-on-the-go consumers, many smartphone
manufacturers
ventured into improving their devices that integrate powerful
photography features. This gave rise to ‘mobigraphy’ or mobile
photography, the new art of capturing images and editing them—all in one
place.
This
is the very reason why mobile phone tycoons like Alcatel Flash
innovated
its products, making it up to par with the modern photography needs of
its customers in Southeast Asia. With the rise of mobigraphy, it is now
possible to enjoy exceptional camera functions that were once possible
in traditional cameras only.
“The
truth is, mobigraphy is not just an action. It is a lifestyle,” said
Albert Wong, general manager of Mobile Internet Group TCL
Communication. “When we launched our Flash series, we put the needs of
our customers in mind.”
He
continued, “When we released the Flash 2, we made sure that our camera
features are much better than what we already have and at the same
time, carry optimum accessibility and convenience to the users to shoot
their best moments.”
In
September 2015, Alcatel Flash introduced its Flash 2 camera phone
packing
a 13-MP gSight. rear camera and a 5-MP profile cam front camera. With
its outstanding features, Flash 2 has become one of the bestselling
smartphones in Southeast Asia where it was sold out in ten minutes after
its release.
What
triggered the Flash 2’s boom in sales is its best-in-class mobile
photography
features, allowing users to gain rich and fun photography experiences
that complement the lifestyle of people who have the knack for
outstanding snapshots.
Flash
2 provides users a handy substitute of unwieldy cameras to quickly
capture
beautiful sights by virtue of its 13-MP rear camera fitted with
Samsung’s advanced ISOCELL sensor technology. This delivers a better
image quality and higher color fidelity.
Furthermore,
its camera is comprehensively optimized with extensive enhancements
for low-light photography such as the RealTone flash that provides more
natural supplementary lighting and 4/2.0 aperture allowing in more
light.
“This
feature enables users to capture scenes and the starlit sky awesomely
and easy,” Wong said. “Low-light situations like cloudy days and
evenings are usually situations where users are the least confident in
mobile photography. But with Flash 2, they no longer have to worry about
low-quality shots.”
Flash
2 also uses the latest Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) technology
with a focus time as short as 0.3 second to quickly capture moving
objects or fleeting sights. Subjects may be captured in seconds by
double-pressing the shutter button to start and auto focus
instantaneously.
According
to Alcatel Flash’s e-commerce director Yogi Babri, the latest Flash
2 version packing an F182 0.28X fisheye lens with a minimum focus
distance of 18 mm and MACRO 5X micro-lens of 40mm now allows even
stronger mobile photography performance especially in terms of enhancing
clarity and controlling blurring.
Lastly, the Flash 2 offers a full range of camera modes including Super Fine,
HDR, Panorama, Track, Live Photo, Multi-Angle and Picture-In-Picture features.
Aside from the rear camera, Flash 2 is also equipped with a 5-MP front camera
that has a beauty mode and wider 84 degree-angle that fits in more people in one frame.
Photos
taken with smartphones are expected to rise to 78.8 percent in 2017,
according to the 2015 Mobile Photographer Behavior Analysis Report by
Camera360. This only shows that photography is no longer exclusive to
professional photographers but also to anyone who carries a smartphone
for everyday use.
Wong concluded, “As smartphones increasingly replace traditional cameras and
everyone becomes a photographer, the human history of photography has been rewritten and will start a new chapter.”

Microsoft's Artificial Intelligence 'Tay' turned against Humanity in less than 24 hours
Tay, Microsoft’s new Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot on Twitter had to be pulled down a day after it launched, following incredibly racist comments and tweets praising Hitler and bashing feminists.
Microsoft had launched the Millennial-inspired artificial intelligence chatbot on Wednesday, claiming that it will become smarter the more people talk to it.
The real-world aim of Tay is to allow researchers to "experiment" with conversational understanding, as well as learn how people talk to each other and get progressively "smarter."
Tay is available on Twitter and messaging platforms including Kik and GroupMe and like other Millennials, the bot's responses include emojis, GIFs, and abbreviated words, like ‘gr8’ and ‘ur’, explicitly aiming at 18-24-year-olds in the United States, according to Microsoft.
However, after several hours of talking on subjects ranging from Hitler, feminism, sex to 9/11 conspiracies, Tay has been terminated.
Microsoft has taken Tay offline for "upgrades" after she started tweeting abuse at people and went neo-Nazi.
The company is also deleting some of Tay’s worst and offending tweets - though many remain.
Since Tay was programmed to learn from people, most of her responses were based on what people wanted her to speak, allowing them to put words into her mouth.
However, some of Tay’s responses were organic. Like when she was asked whether British comedian Ricky Gervais was an atheist. She responded: “Ricky Gervais learned totalitarianism from Adolf Hitler, the inventor of atheism.”
Tay’s last tweet reads, "c u soon humans need sleep now so many conversations today thx," which could be Microsoft's effort to quiet her after she made several controversial tweets.
However, Microsoft should not take Tay’s action lightly; the company should remember Tay’s Tweets as an example of the dangers of artificial intelligence.

AI is likely to be ‘either the best or worst thing ever to happen to humanity,’ Hawking said, ‘so there's huge value in getting it right’

"The AI chatbot Tay is a machine learning project, designed for human engagement,” a Microsoft spokesperson said. “It is as much a social and cultural experiment, as it is technical. Unfortunately, within the first 24 hours of coming online, we became aware of a coordinated effort by some users to abuse Tay's commenting skills to have Tay respond in inappropriate ways. As a result, we have taken Tay offline and are making adjustments."

Facebook Profile Videos Is Now Available On Android User
Facebook
employees have been making profile videos for a while, and many of them
are disarmingly cute: faces surrounded by puppies, peering through
bushes, or having their hair blown back by a ridiculous fan. Video
profiles aren't required — you can stick with a static image — but I
expect that they'll become enormously popular, assuming they become
available to everyone. (The videos are previous being tested among small
groups in the United States and the United Kingdom.)
Its was First available for iOS user, now rolling out for Android user.
I already got one :p your videos must be 2 to 5 seconds long any longer than that will failed to upload. You can use Android apps like "Snow" to make some special effects.
Upload a Video or Photo Option - If you this option not yet on your account don't worry it will come soon. It will available to everyone.

Android N 6 Cool Features
Android N Developer Preview, an early beta of Google’s new mobile operating system launch right now. So, you can test out Android N Developer Preview on your smartphone and tablet right now from developer.android.com/preview.
Android N Developer Preview for the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Pixel C Nexus 9, the Nexus Player and the General Mobile 4G, an Android One device has been made available as an over-the-air update by Google on Wednesday.
The good news is that the Google Android team has brought meaningful features to your smartphone and tablet in just five months.
What's new about the new Android Developer Preview so far.
1. Multi-Window API
google-android-n-download-1
Multi-window support is the feature users have long asked for – especially on tablets. The feature allows users to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
So now you can type out a message while viewing a map, check the weather while watching videos, and so on. The screen can be split horizontally or vertically as you prefer.
2. Reply to Messages Directly Without Leaving an App
google-android-n-direct-reply
Among the new changes in Android N are improved notifications. Notifications support "direct reply" feature for app developers who can now allow their users to reply to incoming notifications of WhatsApp, Twitter or SMS messages straight from the notification panel without having to launch the app in question.
Developers can also choose to bundle notification alerts from the same app together, enabling users to see them as a bundle and expand individually if necessary.
3. Better Battery Life
This is the biggest relief for all Android users. With Android Marshmallow, Google introduced a new battery-saving feature called Doze that places an Android device into a deep power-savings mode when it is stationary for a while.
In Android N, Google is taking this feature a step further by allowing Doze to work whenever the screen is OFF, not just when the device is stationary. So your smartphone's battery will now last even longer when it's in standby mode.
4. Data Saver
google-android-n-data-saver
Moreover, Google continues to work on making its Android OS less memory-hungry and making apps running in the background work more efficiently.
When turned ON, the Data Saver feature restricts the apps from using data connection as well as prevent pulling in embedded videos and images on web pages. You can also pick selected apps that may be allowed to use the data connection even when the feature is ON.
However, the Data Saver feature in Android N will be particularly helpful for those who are on prepaid or pay-on-the-go connections for data.
5. Picture-in-Picture Mode
google-android-n-picture-in-picture
Now you can view a YouTube video while reading through a report in Word on your Android device, thanks to Picture-in-picture feature in Android N.
The feature will be more useful for those with tablets or larger phones.
6. No Need to Flash Your Device (Direct Boot)
Yes, the most brilliant part is that you do not need to flash or tether your device to a PC in order to download and install the new Android N Developer Preview, as it can be downloaded straight to your device.
These are the things that are now known to us about the all new Android N Developer Preview, but one thing we definitely don’t know yet that what the ‘N’ will stand for.

Facebook paid $15,000 bounty for recently discovered Password Reset Vulnerability
A security researcher discovered a 'simple vulnerability' in the social network that allowed him to easily hack into any Facebook account, view message conversations, post anything, view payment card details and do whatever the real account holder can.
Facebook bounty hunter Anand Prakash from India recently discovered a Password Reset Vulnerability, a simple yet critical vulnerability that could have given an attacker endless opportunities to brute force a 6-digit code and reset any account's password.
Facebook lets users change their account password through Password Reset procedure by confirming their Facebook account with a 6-digit code received via email or text message.
Prakash discovered that the social media giant had not implemented rate-limiting in its password reset process on the beta sites, beta.facebook.com and mbasic.beta.facebook.com, according to a blog post published by Prakash.
Prakash tried to brute force the 6-digit code on the Facebook beta pages in the 'Forgot Password' window and discovered that there is no limit set by Facebook on the number of attempts for beta pages.
-To ensure the genuinity of the user, Facebook allows the account holder to try up to a dozen codes before the account confirmation code is blocked due to the brute force protection that limits a large number of attempts.
As Prakash explained, the vulnerable POST request in the beta pages is:
Brute forcing the 'n' successfully allowed Prakash to launch a brute force attack into any Facebook account by setting a new password, taking complete control of any account.
0.5 seconds per HTTP request you still require 5.7 days(max) to brute force 6 digits for a single account and assume the code did not expires (+ no complaint when people look at their phone/email).
Prakash discovered the vulnerability in February and reported it to Facebook on February 22. The social network fixed the issue the next day and had paid him $15,000 as a reward considering the severity and impact of the vulnerability.

How the Flaw Works
The vulnerability actually resides in the way Facebook's beta domains handle 'Forgot Password' requests.Facebook lets users change their account password through Password Reset procedure by confirming their Facebook account with a 6-digit code received via email or text message.

Video Demonstration
Prakash has also provided a proof-of-concept (POC) video demonstration (The Software he use is Burp Suite ) that shows the attack in work. You can watch the video given below that will walk you through the entire procedure:Prakash discovered the vulnerability in February and reported it to Facebook on February 22. Ray Tomlinson, Inventor of email and savior of the @ sign, is dead at 74
A computing legend has died. The inventor of email, Ray Tomlinson, suffered an apparent heart attack on Saturday, according to reports. He was 74 years old.
Tomlinson sent the very first email back in 1971; at the time, he was working in Boston at Bolt, Beranek, and Newman (BBN), a company that was instrumental in the development of a very early version of the internet, called ARPANET. As an employee, he was "looking for problems [ARPANET] could solve,"
Others had thought about sending messages to other users before, and there were some early versions that let you share notes to users on the same computer, but Tomlinson came up with the SNDMSG command. Unlike what came before it, SNDMSG actually sent mail files to the recipient's computers. It was the first networked messaging program.
Unfortunately for us, the very first email has been lost to time. As he said in an NPR interview from 2009, they were just random strings of text. "The first e-mail is completely forgettable ... and, therefore, forgotten." Thanks to his invention, Tomlinson won't be.
He also decided to use the @ symbol to designate a user from its host. The decision lifted the humble symbol from obscurity to international icon — it even entered MOMA's collection in 2010. The fact it was little-used at the time made it appealing to Tomlinson, as it reduced ambiguity. Also, as he liked to say, "It's the only preposition on the keyboard."
