Facebook Kills the "Other Folder Inbox" messages from strangers

Facebook is finally killing off this ‘Others folder,’ where messages from strangers turned up .

Facebook Messenger’s head David Marcus wrote on the site that the ‘Others’ folder will be removed and instead Facebook is adding a new Message Requests feature to the app.
.

The Other inbox was where messages from strangers, or people you only kinda sorta know, would land. And like most people, you probably had no idea it existed. Now that you’ve found it, you’ve probably discovered all kinds of stuff. Maybe you found invitations to a party you would have loved to attend. Maybe someone found your backpack and tried to return it. Maybe there are some incredibly creepy come-ons in there. Whatever is in the Other inbox, it’s yours, and now you know about it—just in time to see it  all go way.

Other inbox exist on Page also

The “Message Requests” on Messenger will now be requests from people, who are not in your phone contacts or your Facebook friends.  Users will have the option of ignoring or accepting these Message requests, without the sender finding out

The goal here is to clean up the mess that is Facebook’s messaging system. Yes, you may well get some unwanted messages through Message Request. They may be asinine, they may be annoying, and they may even be disgusting. But at least you’ll know they’re there.

Within 10 days, Facebook will roll out Message Requests. It works a lot like the Other inbox, except you can actually find it. Cooler still, even though any one of the 1.49 billion people on Facebook can initiate a conversation, you’ll be able to control whether they can do it a second time.

Hacker Could Remotely Intercept Your Voice Calls In Samsung Galaxy Phone – S6, S6 Edge or Note 4

The issue actually resides in the Samsung's baseband chip, which comes in Samsung handsets, that handles voice calls but is not directly accessible to the end user.

Two security researchers, Daniel Komaromy of San Francisco and Nico Golde of Berlin, have demonstrated exactly the same during a security conference in Tokyo.

The duo demonstrated a man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack on an out-of-the-box and most updated Samsung handset that allowed them to intercept voice calls by connecting the device to fake cellular base stations.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy Phone – S6, S6 Edge or Note 4, in particular – there are chances that a skilled hacker could remotely intercept your voice calls to listen in and even record all your voice conversations.

How to Intercept Voice Calls?

The researchers set up a bogus OpenBTS base station that nearby Samsung devices, including the latest Samsung S6 and S6 Edge, think is a legitimate cellular tower.

Once connected to it, the bogus base station remotely tinkers with the phone's baseband processor even without any knowledge of the user.

This gives an attacker ability to intercept, listen, and even record your phone calls. In short, the hack attack is a cellular MITM attack, and users have no idea what's happening

The pair has reported their findings to Samsung and kept the details of the attack out of the reach of the public. Hopefully, the company will address the security hole promptly.

"Our example of modifying the baseband to hijack calls is just an example," Komaromy told the Reg. "The idea with hijacking would be that you can redirect calls to a proxy and that way you can man-in-the-middle the call. So that means the caller sees her original call connected – but it can be recorded in the proxy [which is how] it is like a wiretap implant."

However, given the requirements to make such an attack possible, an everyday hacker can not be able to execute the hack.

Google Self-Driving Car Pulled Over By Police For Driving Too Slowly

A police officer in Mountain View, California, stopped one of Google's autonomous vehicles for driving too slowly, despite the car not breaking any laws.

Officials said this week that a Google self-driving car was pulled over by police because the vehicle was traveling too slowly. An officer in Mountain View, California, noticed traffic was backing up behind the prototype vehicle, which was traveling 24 mph in a 35 mph zone.

It was pulled over after a police officer noticed traffic backing up behind it.

"As the officer approached the slow moving car he realized it was a Google autonomous vehicle," the Mountain View Police Department wrote in a blog post. "The officer stopped the car and made contact with the operators to learn more about how the car was choosing speeds along certain roadways and to educate the operators about impeding traffic per 22400(a) of the California Vehicle Code."

The auto and computing industries believe self-driving cars are the future. But developing the technology is only one step along the road. Drivers, legislators and engineers also will have to reckon with issues like car-crash ethical choices, insurance coverage and, as here, law enforcement. For traffic violations, Google has said the company itself should be responsible for tickets.

Prototypes of Google's self-driving bubble cars are not an uncommon sight on roads in Mountain View. But the company is not alone in experimenting with autonomous vehicles -- many automakers are currently researching their own self-driving vehicles. Toyota has said that it hopes to make self-driving cars commercially available by 2020, and MIT's Kevin Ashton, who divined the concept of network-connected objects known as the Internet of Things, this week predicted the vehicles will be commonplace by 2030.

Tips and Troubleshooting - Internet Connection

The Internet, It's such a great source of information; one click can literally get you to travel the world virtually! As long as you don't sit in front of the computer 24 hours a day, I guess it's totally okay to admit you surf the net atleast once a day!

Members of Gen Y place a high value on connectivity. In fact, a recent Cisco report foundgen y woman uses internet that more than half of Gen Y students felt that they could not live without the Internet. Yes, you read that correctly, “could not live” without it. Perhaps they don’t actually feel that they may die without the web (some may!), but they almost certainly feel that their lives would be vastly different without this avenue to constant connection. And in many ways, they may be justified for feeling this way.

Other times, it's the universe's cruel joke to destroy your productivity slow Internet Connection.
My 4 year old son throw his smartphone, when Youtube is buffering  imagine that LOL even kids lost temper with a slow Internet.

Tips to Consider when applying for Internet Connection

1. Distance of the Source of Internet Connection

Distance is very important to ensure you have a strong connection and link quality
If you know related in electricity conductor  the size matters a long cooper wire reduce the electric current  of Internet cable wires.

Measurement Tools:
Engineers use Ohms Law to calculate how much resistance a given wire will have. This tells us how much energy we will loose over distance.

I = V / R Amps = Volts divided by Resistance

Formulas for Resistance and Conductance:

Resistance = resistivity / cross sectional area
Conductance = 1 / Resistance

The longer electricity has to travel, the more energy it looses.

There have been experimental superconductive high voltage lines which were able to transmit power with almost no losses, however the technology is not developed enough to be cost effective.

While the Latest Fibr Technology-  Fibr is the future of broadband currently being used by international telephone operators like Verizon (US), BT Infinity (UK), etc. This is the most advanced broadband service in the country that connects to the home via fiber-optic lines.

Traditional broadband services are usually through legacy copper lines, or cable. Fibr’s use of fiber-optic cables guarantees the fastest and most stable internet connection for you.

What Fibr can do is to allow your entire family to enjoy simultaneous high-speed browsing and high definition downloading without experiencing any speed lags.

2. Signal of the Source of Internet Connection

Similar to cable lines  Signal is very important to ensure you have a strong connection and link quality.

RSSI is a Radio-Frequency (RF) term and stands for Received Signal Strength Indicator. It is a measure of the power level that a RF device, such as WiFi or 3G client, is receiving from the radio infrastructure at a given location and time.

Example here a Wimax RSSI   - 64 dBm  with mean Good Link Quality , if you have -85 to -90 or worst -120  it means your to FARAWAY from Internet Provider Tower or WiFi router in home or office.

While there is no simple precise solution that is used universally, we will try to explain the approximate correlation between signal (RSSI) and quality (percentage).

Generally,
db >= -50 db = 100% quality
db <= -100 db = 0% quality

For RSSI signal between -50db and -100db,
quality ~= 2* (db + 100)
RSSI ~= (percentage / 2) - 100

For example:
High quality: 90% ~= -55db
Medium quality: 50% ~= -75db
Low quality: 30% ~= -85db
Unusable quality: 8% ~= -96db

 4G or LTE
LTE, an abbreviation for Long-Term Evolution, commonly marketed as 4G LTE, is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones.

Here Is the Example of LTE (Smart) even I have 1 bar with -90db  I still got 9 Mbps Download Speed the problem it the Uplink.

-BMT

3. Check Your Speeds (and Your Plan)

Sometimes, your internet is slow because you're only paying for slow internet with CAPPING Limited Bandwidth or FUP . Log onto your provider's web site (or give them a call) and find out what plan you have. Then, head on over to Speedtest.net and run a speed test. If the numbers match up to what you're paying for, then your network is working fine and you're just paying for slow internet—and the best way to speed it up will be to upgrade.

Example  Here :
NOTE: No intend to advertise PLDT Fibr Plan I post it just to make example.

 PLDT Fibr Plan

Fibr Lite Plan ( with Limited bandwidth up to 50GB )

NOTE: Be ware that in the Philippines we have FUP or Fair Usage Policy

Effect of FUP - Monthly bandwidth allocation for Smart Bro/myBro/PLDT Ultera/Globe subs is only 15GB to etc. If you have downloaded that much data before the month ends then you will experience a slowdown with your connection. Your normal speed will return the following month.

This is the example  speedtest of one of my friend  she's freaking out about here  Speed.

4. Troubleshoot Your Hardware

Before you go cursing your internet provider, give your modem and router a quick reset (that is, turn them off and on again) and see if that helps. Check the other computers in your house to see if their internet is slow, too—if the problem only happens on one computer, the problem is that computer, not your router or modem.

Reset button at the back of your modem/router especially about WiFi or ADSL connection.

If it's a hardware problem. Then call your Internet provider customer service, once you fix your router or modem (or replace it), you'll be browsing speedily once again.

Your ISP automatically assigns DNS servers when your router or computer connects to the Internet via Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)... but you don't have to use those.

But what if those ISP-provided DNS servers aren't reliable or you're troubleshooting an issue and you suspect that DNS might not be working properly?
You can configure Google Public DNS addresses for either IPv4 or IPv6 connections, or both.

5. Fix Your Wi-Fi Signal

If you're using Wi-Fi, you might find that your router and internet are fine, but your wireless signal is weak, causing a slowdown. In that case, you may need to reposition, tweak, and boost your router with a few tricks.

To get the best Internet connection, put your router in a central place. This way, no matter what room you’re in, you’ll have the best connection and fastest Internet speed. If you always use your devices in the same room, put your router as close to those devices as possible.

There are more than we could share in one paltry paragraph—in fact, we have a WiFi Repeater fixing boost your Wi-Fi signal any where in your house.

Repeaters are used to increase the range of a transmitted signal by re-transmission. For a conducted signal, an amplifier is used. Optical systems don't amplify but all these devices give the appearance of doing so.

6. Turn Off Bandwidth-Hogging Plugins and Apps

If your hardware seems to be in working order, see if any other programs are hogging the connection. For example, if you're downloading files with BitTorrent, regular web browsing is going to be slower.

Application on your computer it might be running nonstop without you even knowing it. Check your computer to see what programs are open that don’t need to be (or that you could even uninstall).

You should also try installing extensions like AdBlock Plus or FlashBlock, which will block some of the bandwidth-hogging ads, animations, and videos that can use up your connection. They probably won't solve all your issues, but they can at least help make a slow connection feel more usable.

Mitsubishi Launches First Japanese-made Passenger Jet

The first Japanese-made passenger jet embarked on its debut flight Wednesday, an event seen as signaling the country's ambition to position itself as a major player in world aviation.

After a series of delays, the Mitsubishi Regional Jet (MRJ) -- Japan's first new commercial aircraft for 50 years -- for took off from Nagoya Airport in central Japan.

The 90-minute flight went smoothly.

Mitsubishi claims the jet, which comes in 78 and 92 seat versions, uses 20% less fuel than other aircraft in its class thanks to aerodynamic design.

The smaller sized regional aircraft will put Mitsubishi in competition with Brazilian plane maker Embraer SA and Canada's Bombardier, which dominate the market for passenger jets with fewer than 100 seats.

With Mitsubishi set to conduct more test flights, first delivery of the jet is not scheduled until mid-2017.

Japan's largest carrier, All Nippon Airways has signed up to receive the first MRJ planes, having ordered 15.

The Downfall of Friendster - The Social Network Website Pioneer

Before MySpace and Facebook, there was Friendster, a pioneering social networking website for consumers. First launched in 2002, Friendster attracted tens of millions of users over the years, but it never quite grew into the online juggernaut it could have been.

It is considered one of the original and even the "grandfather" of social networks. Not quite two years old then, Friendster had already come up against many new competitors and clones. Michael Birch, best known for selling Bebo to AOL and later buying it back, launched Ringo.com three days after hearing about Friendster, later describing it as "a copycat site of Friendster." Google launched Orkut, a failed early attempt at a social network, in January 2004 after attempting a Friendster acquisition. Even one of Friendster's investors, future Zynga founder Mark Pincus, launched a social networking competitor in 2003 called Tribe.net.

If all that wasn't enough, there was MySpace, which was founded in late 2003. According to Abrams, the team at MySpace would spam Friendster's message boards, trying to poach users. ( "Hmm... I remember that spam wall message from Myspace LOL ".)

While the current  know that today's social media giant, Facebook launch in 2004, was a mere two years younger.

Remember the gaudy profile pics with the sparkly, animated lettering? Or the sappy, long-winded dedications you'd leave on your friends pages?

Friendster Layouts, Skins, Premade Layouts, Overlay, Crossover Layouts. dyan ako natuto mag CSS at Basic HTML hahaha  a lot of bling bling on your FS Layout with your Favorite Rockstar or Anime Theme and  add the Music Playlist!.

Friendster made its last stand in Asia. The social network was acquired in 2009 — not by "goliaths" like Yahoo or AOL, or Google, which had offered to buy it years earlier — by MOL Global, an online payments provider based in Malaysia. Friendster had 115 million members at the time of the acquisition, the vast majority of which (more than 75 million) lived in Asia.

Friendster was acquired by Malaysian payments company MOL Global at the end of 2009 for a reported $40 million.

In 2011, MOL Global / Friendster CEO Ganesh Kumar Bangah told ZDNet that he’s under the impression social media sites are increasingly being made irrelevant because the global social graph is increasingly dominated by Facebook. Having raised close to $50 million in venture capital,

He added that, as a result, Friendster will be repositioned as a social entertainment site for people to play games and music, and that it will leverage Facebook Connect.

Purchased  by a Malaysian online payments provider, it deleted all its former users and started fresh as a gaming service. Most visitors these days are concentrated in just Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Fast forward to today, and it looks like Friendster won’t be so much about sharing with friends even in game anymore.

On June 14, 2015 Friendster, citing "...the evolving landscape in our challenging industry" and lack of engagement by the online community, suspended their services.

No less than Friendster founder Jonathan Abrams has decided to explain why, after years of avoiding the topic. In a recent interview with Seth Fiegerman on Mashable, he confessed that Friendster's downfall was a complicated matter fraught with many missed opportunities.

"It was a really weird time. Friendster at the time was still a very small company," he says."We viewed ourselves as the David, not the Goliath. There were the Yahoos and the AOLs and we were this tiny, little startup. But the moment Friendster got the publicity, people started to copy it. Of course we were aware of all of them."

Even with all that competition, Abrams recognized early on that Facebook might pose a unique threat. On Friendster, users could set up profiles, connect with friends and family, search for new contacts (and, yes, potential dates) based on the people you were already connected to and interact with people on the social network through messages and groups. It was essentially a more pared down version of Facebook and the latter had the added benefit of quickly gaining popularity among college students.

Abrams mentioned key moments, though, that surely contributed to his creation's demise:

1) Friendster did not push for certain projects ahead of Facebook

Among the things Facebook is known for are a) its birth on a college campus, and its initial spreading across other college campuses; b) its Newsfeed; and c) its social graph. Believe it or not, but Adams claims that some of Friendster's plans included a college edition, a newsfeed, and a social graph -- all ahead of Facebook. But these plans remained just that, only to surface through their competitor in the future.

2) Friendster was not addressing tech issues

Friendster suffered through many technology issues, but they weren't addressed because the site's investors wanted to focus on other concerns. Ironically, thanks to all the stability issues it underwent through the years, Friendster's market share dropped dramatically.

3) Friendster didn't buy Facebook when it had the chance

In 2004, Friendster's head honchos actually met up with Mark Zuckerberg and his team in the hopes of buying Facebook. The problem? Abrams says they didn't offer the kind of numbers Zuckerberg wanted.

4) Friendster allowed Facebook to buy its entire portfolio of social networking patents

Friendster drove a hard bargain when they were the buyers, but were completely complacent when they were the sellers. Then again, Friendster did sell it all off for $40 million at a time when it was all but obsolete. But should they have been that easy?

5) Friendster didn't sell itself to big sites when it had the chance

Finally, Yahoo!, AOL, and Google actually offered to buy Friendster early on, but Abrams and his team didn't give in. Imagine if Google, in particular, bought Friendster! Google Plus might have been very different – and maybe more successful.

Despite all of this, however, Abrams looks back on Friendster with positivity.
"Whenever you step out and do something, you are going to get both positive and negative feedback. That's just what happens when you create things," he tells Mashable. "Absolutely there are people who have criticized me for things involving Friendster — sometimes things that are not true. But overall, most of the legacy of Friendster is pretty positive. And there are a lot of connections and relationships that I have that may have been started because of Friendster."

For now, Abrams continues to work on developing finally come out http://nuzzel.com/, Nuzzel and suggests the news reader .Ten years later, Abrams may end up competing with Facebook all over again.

Could Friendster be revived from the face of cyber space?

Ultrasonic Screwdriver used open blood brain barrier treat tumor first time

The blood-brain barrier is a lattice-like network that acts to keep harmful things like pathogens out of the brain, while allowing useful substances through. It's very good at doing its job, but unfortunately that represents a hurdle in medicine: If a person has a cancerous tumor inside the brain, getting drugs through without compromising it proves impossible. Last year, however, researchers made an incredible breakthrough, somewhat literally: The blood-brain barrier was breached for the first time using a technique that left it intact post-procedure.

Sunnybrook scientists made history this week as they used focused ultrasound to non-invasively breach the blood-brain barrier and more effectively deliver chemotherapy into the brain tumour of a patient.

The high-intensity focused ultrasound emitters were then activated, causing the microbubbles to expand and contract about 200,000 times per second. This forced apart the cells that make up the barrier’s lattice, allowing a chemotherapy drug to make it through the barrier and treat the tumor. The ultrasound emitters were placed as close to the tumor as possible, and the barrier is only weakened for two minutes or so over a small patch, leaving the rest of the brain protected.

This new revised method, developed by Dr. Todd Mainprize and Dr. Kullervo Hynynen at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, is more precise and non-invasive.

Firstly, as before, chemotherapy medication is injected into the bloodstream, as are the microbubbles. After locating the target tumor using an MRI scanner, a focused beam of ultrasound from outside of the body is directed at the blood-brain barrier, allowing the microbubbles to vibrate and open an incredibly small section of it up, allowing the medication to get through. The bubbles are eventually reabsorbed into the lungs. Importantly, no surgery of any kind was involved.
