The New Functional, Fashionable Smartwatch

Samsung is making strides in the wearable market, the new Gear models are still sitting uncomfortably on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to form and function. The Gear 2 and Gear Neo watches are sleeker than the Galaxy Gear, but they haven’t completely shed their bulky, boxy exteriors quite yet. The Gear Fit is much more practical and discreet, but lacks the functionality of its larger counterparts. What we need is a middle ground, and that’s exactly what Gábor Balogh’s concept design is hoping to bring to the table.

Balogh’s creation is a smartwatch that doesn’t compromise design for performance. The concept just looks like a watch, round face and all. The “smart” applications are all cleverly built into the prototypical parts of the device, from a pushable bezel to a subtle application bar below the time that only appears when the watch is synced to your phone or tablet.
The large display leaves plenty of room for notifications, health applications, music playback and more while avoiding the deficiencies of many modern wearables. Whenever Apple is finally prepared to launch its own smartwatch, let’s hope they’ve given some serious consideration to designs like Balogh’s. More images of the concept follow below.

Google announced Android Wear, its new smartwatch platform. Google says it will partner with numerous manufacturers to create a watch line to suit everyone's tastes. This can be run  via  voice command  with Google Now.

Google Panda 4.0

The First Panda Update

Panda was originally introduced in February 2011, affecting up to 12% of search results. Usually Google rolls out quiet refreshes to its algorithm as monthly updates; they’re not anything major, small changes that don’t impact websites in a major way. This is not one of those updates. Panda 4.0 is cleaning up search results in a big way. Even big name websites have taken significant hits noticed by the SEO community. For example eBay had a huge decline in search results as soon as Panda 4.0 rolled out.

The latest Panda update by Google has been shaking up the SEO world since its introduction a few weeks ago. SEO professionals were surprised to learn that even the biggest and most well-known websites were affected by the update. Read on to see what the main changes are, if your site could have been impacted and what you can do to improve your outcome in search results.

What does it mean?

So, what exactly is the latest version of Panda going after? Low-quality content, that’s what. If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it before: content is king. This becomes clearer and clearer with every single one of Google’s algorithm updates. The goal is to remove websites considered to have more spam content from high ranking Google search slots. While this update has been dubbed a gentler one as it’s supposed to be friendlier to small sites and businesses, it still has had major impact on major sites.
There isn’t anything to fear if you have original, useful or interesting website content. This update can be considered a big win for websites that are producing content that no one else is. For example, the popular website BuzzFeed always has original content and they received a 25% increase in search results. The more valuable and less spammy your website is, the more likely it will be to rank higher on Google.

The following is a list of websites most affected by Panda 4.0

Steve Little Doom House

On an organic mango farm, far into the countryside of northeastern Thailand, Steve Areen  built little dome home up and painted in six weeks.
In the wonderful nature of Thailand Steve bought land, purchased material and setted to work.
Practically from scratch he built beautiful, designed and completely furnished house. He thought of everything. There is also a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, pool or patio and everything is tastefully decorated.

Photos show the whole process of works and wonderful result. The entire building and furniture costed only 6000 Euros. It took a few more weeks to add the details, such as doors, screens, pond, upstairs structure, stonework and landscaping. All this, including furnishings, was under $3000. ..Bringing  total cost to about $9,000.  Please keep in mind this is in cost-friendly Thailand.

Because suitable compressed earth blocks were not available at the time, cement blocks and clay bricks were used.

Now the goal is to take this design ..which is quick, affordable, strong, beautiful and fun, ..and build with more sustainable materials that better insulate for colder climates.

Benefits of Drinking Coffee

Coffee is a brewed beverage prepared from the roasted or baked seeds of several species of an evergreen shrub of the genus Coffea. The two most common sources of coffee beans are the highly regarded Coffea arabica, and the "robusta" form of the hardier Coffea canephora. The latter is resistant to the coffee leaf rust (Hemileia vastatrix), but has a more bitter taste. Coffee plants are cultivated in more than 70 countries, primarily in equatorial Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa. Once ripe, coffee "berries" are picked, processed and dried to yield the seeds inside. The seeds are then roasted to varying degrees, depending on the desired flavor, before being ground and brewed to create coffee.

It can be prepared and presented in a variety of ways. The effect of coffee on human health has been a subject of many studies; however, results have varied in terms of coffee's relative benefit. The majority of recent research suggests that moderate coffee consumption is benign or mildly beneficial in healthy adults

Coffee at work.  How do we benefit from it?

Just smelling coffee could make you less stressed

Researchers at the Seoul National University examined the brains of rats who were stressed with sleep deprivation and discovered that those who were exposed to coffee aromas experienced changes in brain proteins tied to that stress. Note, this aroma study doesn't relate to stress by itself, only to the stress felt as a result of sleep deprivation. Now, we're not entirely sure if this means you should keep a bag of roasted coffee beans on your nightstand every night, but feel free to try!

Coffee Can Improve Energy Levels and Make You Smarter

Coffee can help people feel less tired and increase energy levels.
This is because it contains a stimulant called caffeine, which is actually the most commonly consumed psychoactive substance in the world. After you drink coffee, the caffeine is absorbed into the bloodstream. From there, it travels into the brain.

In the brain, caffeine blocks an inhibitory neurotransmitter called Adenosine.
When that happens, the amount of other neurotransmitters like norepinephrine and dopamine actually increases, leading to enhanced firing of neuron.
Many controlled trials in humans show that coffee improves various aspects of brain function. This includes memory, mood, vigilance, energy levels, reaction times and general cognitive function

Coffee Can Fight Depression and Make You Happier

Depression is a serious mental disorder that causes a significantly reduced quality of life.
It is incredibly common and about 4.1% of people in the U.S. currently meet the criteria for clinical depression .
In a Harvard study published in 2011, women who drank 4 or more cups per day had a 20% lower risk of becoming depressed .
Another study with 208,424 individuals found that those who drank 4 or more cups per day were 53% less likely to commit suicide . Coffee appears to lower the risk of developing depression and may dramatically reduce the risk of suicide

Coffee is The Biggest Source of Antioxidants in The Western Diet

For people who eat a standard Western diet, coffee may actually be the healthiest aspect of the diet.
That’s because coffee contains a massive amount of antioxidants.
In fact, studies show that most people get more antioxidants from coffee than both fruits and vegetables… combined .
Coffee is one of the healthiest beverages on the planet. Period.

The Caffeine Can Drastically Improve Physical Performance

Caffeine stimulates the nervous system, causing it to send signals to the fat cells to break down body fat.
But caffeine also increases Epinephrine (Adrenaline) levels in the blood .

This is the “fight or flight” hormone, designed to make our bodies ready for intense physical exertion.
Caffeine makes the fat cells break down body fat, releasing them into the blood as free fatty acids and making them available as fuel .
Given these effects, it is not surprising to see that caffeine can improve physical performance by 11-12%, on average .
Because of this, it makes sense to have a strong cup of coffee about a half an hour before you head to the gym.

Kevin Atienza, an artificial intelligence engineer working for Kalibrr, participated in Google Code Jam 2014. From a roster of 50,000 participants whittled down to 500 contenders, Atienza reached the third round.
Round 3 is a 150-minute flurry of questions that test semifinalists’ speed and critical thinking skills.
While Atienza did not rank in the top 25 needed to advance to the finals, Atienza’s 72nd place finish put him at the top of Southeast Asia’s contenders for Google’s coding throne, currently held by Ivan Miatselski of Belarus.
Kalibrr’s announcement on Atienza's 72nd place finish also noted that his placement put him in the top 0.15% of the world’s coders.
Atienza hopes to eventually represent the Philippines in the Google Code Jam finals, and become the second Southeast Asian to reach that pinnacle of coding excellence. Rappler.com

Low-priced Android smartphone: bundled with spyware

Beware this low-priced smartphone from China – it may come bundled with spyware, a German security firm claimed this week.

Germany-based G Data said the "N9500" made by Chinese maker Star is the first phone to have the spyware installed as part of the firmware.

For the first time ever, the experts at the German security vendor have discovered a smartphone that comes with extensive spyware straight from the factory. The malware is disguised as the Google Play Store and is part of the pre-installed Android apps. The spyware runs in the background and cannot be detected by users. Unbeknownst to the user, the smartphone sends personal data to a server located in China and is able to covertly install additional applications.
This makes it possible to retrieve personal data, intercept calls and online banking data, read emails and text messages or control the camera and microphone remotely. The affected model "N9500" is produced by the Chinese manufacturer Star and looks very similar to a smartphone from a well-known manufacturer. It is not possible to remove the manipulated app and the spyware since they are integrated into the firmware. Large online retailers are still selling the Android device at prices ranging from 130 to 165 euros and distributing it across Europe.

"The options with this spy program are nearly unlimited. Online criminals have full access to the smartphone," notes Christian Geschkat, Product Manager Mobile Solutions. "G DATA customers reported a detection by our security solution and thus alerted us to this criminal tactic."

Test purchase led to alarming results

After receiving tip-offs from customers, the G DATA security experts purchased and analysed the device. This is how they found out that the firmware contained theTrojan Android.Trojan.Uupay.D, disguised as the Google Play Store. The spy function is invisible to the user and cannot be deactivated. This means that online criminals have full access to the smartphone and all personal data. Logs that could make an access visible to the users are deleted directly. The program also blocks the installation of security updates.

"The only thing users see is an app with the Google Play Store icon in the running processes; other than that, the application is completely disguised," reports Christian Geschkat. "Unfortunately, removing the Trojan is not possible as it is part of the device's firmware and apps that fall into this category cannot be deleted. This includes the fake Google Play Store app of the N9500." Users can use G DATA Internet Security for Android, which detects the malware as Android.Trojan.Uupay.D, to find out whether their own device is affected. The expert advises affected customers to contact the respective online shop to return the device.

Risk for users

The smartphone represents a serious risk to users. The spy program enables criminals to secretly install apps, which enables the whole spectrum of abuse: localisation, interception & recording, purchases, banking fraud such as theft of mobile TANs, and sending of premium SMSs.
It is impossible to find out where the data is sent. "The intercepted data is sent to an anonymous server in China," says Christian Geschkat. "It is not possible to find out who ends up receiving and using the data."

The price of the mobile device is supposed to attract users

The cheap price ranging from 130 to 165 euros comes as a surprise, considering the high technological standard of the device. The quad-core smartphone is supplied with extensive accessories, such as a second battery, car charging adapter and second cover. Comparable devices from well-known brands cost almost three times that much.
The security experts at G DATA think that the low price of the mobile device is made possible by the subsequent selling of data records stolen from the smartphone owner. "In general, particularly cheap offers online that seem tempting should make buyers suspicious. There’s no such thing as a free lunch," advises Christian Geschkat.

Smartphones and tablets targeted by criminals

The increasing popularity of smartphones and tablets has not gone unnoticed by online criminals. There are about 40 million smartphone users in Germany alone. More than 1.2 million new malware programs for Android appeared last year and this number is expected to rise sharply. All the more reason for users to use a comprehensive security solution for their mobile devices.
