Microsoft are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10576 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring

Today Microsoft are releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10576 to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. Not only does this build have a good set of bug fixes and fit-an-finish, it also includes a few new things for you to try.

Here are some things we have fixed:
•We fixed the issue where the Xbox app for Windows 10 would consume gigabytes of memory on your PC if you have any Win32 games (non -Windows Store games) installed on your PC that have been identified as games or added by you in the Xbox app. 

•We introduced an early preview of nested virtualization so that people could run Hyper-V Containers in Hyper-V virtual machines with Build 10565. This build includes performance improvements. 

•We’ve been addressing a lot of feedback around localization text UI in various languages and you’ll see a lot of that work in this build. 

•The search box should now work in this build if you are in a locale where Cortana is not available. 

Known issues:
•After upgrading to this build, all your Skype messages and contacts are gone in the Messaging app. The workaround for this is to navigate to C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Messaging_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache in File Explorer and either delete or rename the “PrivateTransportId” file. Then restart the Messaging app. Additionally, you can install the app from the Store as an updated app.
•Small form-factor devices, like the Dell Venue 8 Pro, that boot with rotation or virtual mode screen size set larger than the physical screen size will experience a bluescreen on upgrade and will roll back to the previous build.
•After upgrading to this build, the power button on your Surface Pro 3 may no longer put your Surface Pro 3 to sleep and instead shut down.
•WebM and VP9 have been temporarily removed from builds. We continue to develop a VP9 implementation that we intend to ship in Windows. Expect VP9 to return soon in a future build.

Media Casting in Microsoft Edge: You can now use Microsoft Edge to cast video, picture, and audio content from your browser to any Miracast and DLNA enabled device on your network. 

 We’ve got a few scenarios for you to try out:

•Cast a video from YouTube: Go to YouTube.com in Microsoft Edge. Click on the "…" menu and the top left, and select "Cast media to device" and select the Miracast or DLNA device you want to cast to. 

•Cast a Facebook photo album: Login to Facebook in Microsoft Edge and click on the first photo in one of your photo albums to cast. Click on the "…" menu and the top left, and select "Cast media to device" and select the Miracast or DLNA device you want to cast to. Navigate through your photo album by clicking on the forward and backward buttons. 

•Cast your music from Pandora: Login to Pandora in Microsoft Edge to get to your music and click on the "…" menu and the top left, and select "Cast media to device" and select the Miracast or DLNA device you want to cast to.

Windows 8.1 was launched with a lot of new features and one of them was the support for the Miracast Wireless Display which lets you mirror the display of your computer on a third-party device supporting the Miracast feature. The third-party device can be a projector, a TV set or a media streaming device.

Almost all the latest computers and laptops come with a Miracast feature support, however, it is supported only if you are running on Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. To be able to mirror the screen on a third-party device, you need to make sure that the source as well as the receiver have Miracast support. If the manufacturer of the third-party device has mentioned that the device supports wireless display, then you can be rest assured of the Miracast compatibility with the device.




Ask Cortana inside PDFs in Microsoft Edge: You can now highlight text while reading a PDF in Microsoft Edge and right-click to “Ask Cortana” to find additional information.

Updated Xbox beta app for Windows 10: The Xbox beta app for Windows 10 was updated last Friday which includes the ability to easily find and add Facebook friends who are also on Xbox Live to play, chat, and share clips – a top requested feature. In addition to that new feature, voiceover recording functionality has been added to Game DVR, and the Store in the Xbox beta app will allow you to search for and purchase Xbox One games – including Games with Gold and Deals with Gold promotions, and Xbox One 25-digit codes will be redeemable within the app. For more information on this update – check out this post on Xbox Wire.

Here are some things we have fixed:
•For devices upgraded from Windows Phone 8.1 like the Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, and Lumia 1520 that had the “Hey Cortana” feature – with this build “Hey Cortana” should work again in Windows 10. To make sure it’s turned on, just go to Settings > Extras > Hey Cortana.
•You can now select photos for sharing through third party apps like Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram Beta, WhatsApp etc.
•Battery life should be improved in this build. We fixed several bugs impacting battery life.
•We fixed an issue where you couldn’t choose some apps to show quick status on the Lock screen via Settings > Personalization > Lock screen.
•We’ve made improvements to text prediction and auto-correction.
•Video recording functionality has been improved.
•Visual Voicemail sync should now work properly.
•We fixed the dual-SIM issues that appeared in Build 10572.
•We fixed the issue found with Build 10572 where the Chinese Pinyin QWERTY keyboard stopped working after upgrading from Windows Phone 8.1 that our Chinese Windows Insiders reported.

Chewbacca Arrested While illegally Campaigning And Driving Without A License For Darth Vader In Ukraine

Ukrainian police used the Force when Chewbacca campaigned for the Dark Side. Cops in Odessa wrestled with a man in a Wookiee costume and fined him less than $8 Sunday for illegally campaigning and driving without a license after he dropped Darth Vader off at the polls.

Vader — who is running for mayor of Odessa under the Internet Party of Ukraine — told cops Chewbacca didn’t need a license because the hairy beast is his “pet and general servant.”

Here's what happens when you turn to the Dark Side.

The person dressed as the legendary Wookie was reportedly accused of violating a law that forbids campaigning on election day. 

“Nothing unusual here, just Chewbacca detained for being without documents while driving Darth Vader to the elections in Odessa,” Ukraine police posted on their Instagram account alongside a photo of cops tackling Chewie.

Still, police accused the "Star Wars" Wookiee wannabe of violating election laws, which forbid candidates and their supporters from campaigning on Election Day.

Video showed a mob of cops wrestle with Chewbacca outside the polling station as Darth Vader’s theme music “The Imperial March,” blasted in the background. The officers slammed him on the hood of a car, cuffed him and hauled him off to jail.

Chewbacca even appeared in court, looking just a little worse for the wear:

Vader was running for mayor of Odessa under the Ukrainian Internet Party, which backed 16 Vader's bids in last year's parliamentary elections.

It’s not clear if Vader ever cast his ballot.

The man, still in full Chewie costume, appeared in court Monday. He was fined 170 hryvnia — about $7.50, the Guardian reported.

Tallying the election results — including the outcome of Vader’s bid for Odessa — will not be completed for a few more days.

Politician Darth Vaders are common in Ukraine: 16 of them ran in last year’s parliamentary election. Nearly all of them are backed by the Internet Party, which aims to bring a sense of humor to the county’s tense, sometimes fraudulent elections.

Gest is like a Nintendo Power Glove A hand tracker built for everyday computing

Nintendo Power Glove — have never quite caught on. In theory, they're supposed to combine the fine-grained control that hand-tracking cameras can provide with the reliability of physical controllers like the Oculus Touch.

Gest, pronounced "jest" and developed by fledgling startup Apotact Labs, is a weird experiment based on an eminently reasonable idea. It's an adjustable black strap that fits around a user's palm, attached by wires to four small bands that clip onto their fingers. It's designed to be as light as possible, and it looks more like jewelry than clothing, but Gest fills a similar niche to glove controllers. A combination of accelerometers, gyroscopes, and magnetometers — the same kinds of sensors you'd find in a smartphone — let it figure out the relative positions of your fingers, then transmit them to a computer or mobile device over Bluetooth.

The upshot, in theory, is that Gest is a light and convenient device that doesn't have to collect and analyze the huge amount of data that something like the Leap Motion hand tracker would require. The battery can last longer (supposedly up to a "full day of work"), it can respond faster, and it doesn't require a separate camera. It's not meant to perfectly recreate the way your hand moves around a space, but to capture complex gestures that can be assigned to specific computer controls. While there's no thumb clip, the designers say that's because they can infer a lot of its motion from the way a user's palm moves.

Apotact Labs CEO and co-founder Mike Pfister describes it as the motion control answer to a mouse and keyboard. At launch, it'll work with Photoshop, supporting gestures that let users do things like adjust control sliders, add layers, and change brush sizes. It's aimed at people who might be using a stylus and don't want to put it down to type or click through a menu; they'll use the stylus in their dominant hand and wear a Gest tracker on the other. It's also aimed at the world of virtual reality, where there's a huge need for controllers that work even when you can't see them, particularly ones that replace standard computer keyboards. With a Gest on each hand, it's possible to "air type," with the device's motion tracker aided by a predictive typing tool.


Gest is aiming to ship to backers in November of 2016, if it makes its $100,000 funding goal. The "early bird" funding option will get backers a single Gest at $99 — they'll later need to pick whether they want a right-handed or left-handed model. It will otherwise sell for $200 per hand.

Scientists Have Developed A Prototype Wound Dressing That's Able To Detect the Presence of Bacteria

Scientists have developed a prototype wound dressing that's able to detect the presence of bacteria in the crucial early hours of infection.

Bacteria that colonize wounds tend to create and live in a biofilm, a slimy substance made of external DNA, proteins and complex sugars. If present, the dressing reacts with the biofilms by turning a bright fluorescent color.

“The dressing detects changes in wound bacterial activity. All wounds have some bacteria in [them] – whilst they are kept in check by immune clearance this is not a problem, but when bacteria start to form biofilms and critically colonise the wound, pathogenic changes can result. Our dressing will measure this critical colonisation point,” Dr. Toby Jenkins, co-author of the research, told IFLScience.

The dressing was tested with the common infection-causing bacteria E. coli and S. aureus, among others, and also on colonies of different ages and thus biofilm development.

The detection rate for biofilms from pathogenic, or harmful, strains was surprisingly fast. In lab tests, the wound dressing could reveal the presence of bacteria within four hours from the initial inoculation, but for an established biofilm, the response was within minutes.

The technology could become paramount in post-surgery recovery. “If used appropriately, we believe it can be used for early diagnosis of post-surgical infection and hence (indirectly) in reducing incidences of sepsis,” added Dr. Jenkins.

Unfortunately, the intelligent wound dressing has a long way to go: “We are working on safety testing, working out a manufacturing pathway, and plan [on conducting] a clinical study in about 3 years.”

The dressing was developed at the University of Bath in collaboration with other English institutes. The research was published in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.

• click custom

• on the Settings below change
• Service Type To : Telnet 
• Access Direction :LAN
