Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg is "thinking" about adding a "dislike" button

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerburg on Friday revealed that the company is "thinking" about adding a "dislike" button, but also explained the dangers of having it on the social media site.

On his official Facebook account, the 30-year-old uploaded a video of him addressing the long-sought after button during a public Q&A session held at the company's headquarters.

"We're thinking about it," he said. "The 'like' button is really valuable because it is a way for you to very quickly express positive emotion or sentiment when someone puts themselves out there."
"But there are more sentiments that people want to express than just positivity. A lot of times people share things on Facebook that are sad moments in their lives. And often people tell us that they don't feel comfortable pressing 'like' because it isn't appropriate," he continued.
Zuckerburg went on to explain how the "dislike" button can easily become a way for users to shame others on Facebook, while acknowledging the need for an alternative to the "like" button.
"I think giving people the power to do that in more ways with more emotions would be powerful, but we need to figure out the right way to do it, that it ends up being a force for good and not a force for bad or demeaning the post that people are putting out there," he said.
Earlier in the year, Facebook added support for stickers on its comments section -- a move described by Facebook software engineer Bob Baldwin as a way for users to "easily cheer up a friend who's feeling down, and express a variety of more nuanced reactions."

Firefox Security Update Get Worse

Firefox is one of my favorite browser because some add-ons tools I can use for entering secure site.
Firefox 34.0 was released on December 1. The new version includes some security fixes, improves the search bar, and makes switching between profiles a bit easier.

My previous version is version 29 and Firefox is forcing me to update so I update including flash.

The search box on the upper right, why did they change it's functionality? It was easy to use, simple and quick. Once you could put the cursor on the search box and then a list of pages would come down and you could easily switch to one or the other.

V34: can't quickly choose default search engine. Must use Options>Search Tab. When highlight text & right-click, why can't FF have 3 search engine choices instead of just default? This way, you never have to change default.  That simple efficiency wasn't good enough for someone at Mozilla so they decided to make it more complicated and added a step.

Flash sites. Why is Firefox such a pain in the rear over this? I use Chrome for those sites because FF is often nearly useless. This has been going on for months if not years and nothing is done.

I can't enter site with https with no ssl valid certificate ( MODEM, Dark Internet) and some tls security.
Not compatible with some web developer tools I use..
This is the worst update ever!!

FireFox uses Yahoo by default now instead of Google, but if you have set Google as the default search provider, FF will not change that setting. However the new pretty picture will not allow you to delete a search provider you ad, or that is added for you, you can only delete a search provider through about config or the old search bar settings.

Yahoo results are largely the same as the Bing results anyhow. Sucks!!!
I'm down with change, I'm not down with useless changes or ones that add a step or two.

Cyber attack against Casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp

Cyber attack against Casino operator Las Vegas Sands Corp has been revealed that occurred on February 2014.

The cyber attack occurred on this year’s February but the details of damages to the casino was not publicized until Bloomberg Businessweek exposed it in a story on Thursday. Hackers crippled thousands of servers and computers across the network of the giant Las Vegas Sands Corp. by wiping them with highly destructive malware.

The hack attack was believed to be in response to the statement given by the chief executive officer and largest shareholder of Las Vegas Sands Corp., Sheldon Adelson. On October 2013, the billionaire made a statement at the Manhattan campus of Yeshiva University that Iran should be bombed to get the country to abandon its own nuclear program.
"What I would do," he said during the panel, rather than negotiating, "would be to say, ‘Do you see that desert over there? I want to show you something.’ You pick up your cell phone and you call somewhere in Nebraska and you say ‘Ok let it go.’…Then you say, ‘See? The next one is in the middle of Tehran."
This statement given by Adelson circulated on all over the Internet and reached Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameeni, who responded after two weeks later and said that the American government should "slap these prating people in the mouth and crush their mouths."

Two months later, the attackers attacked the Las Vegas Sands’ IT network to destroy the corporation and continues their attacks last January on the company’s virtual private network gateway at its slots casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The attack went worse in February, when hackers breached server for the casino’s website and used an open tool to fetch usernames and passwords. Finally, they found the credentials of a senior systems engineer who had visited the Bethlehem site from Las Vegas, which gave them keys to the corporate castle. The attackers wiped out data on computers and servers and erased hard drives, as malware ripped through the company’s networks.
"Those credentials got the hackers into the gaming company’s servers in Las Vegas," Bloomberg reported. "As they rifled through the master network, the attackers readied a malware bomb. Typing from a Sony (SNE) VAIO computer, they compiled a small piece of code, only about 150 lines long, in the Visual Basic programming language."
Hackers posted personal information about Sands Bethlehem employees, stolen email addresses and social security numbers. They also left personal messages for Adelson, "Encouraging the use of Weapons of Mass Destruction, UNDER ANY CONDITION, is a Crime, signed, the Anti WMD Team," said one. "Damn A, Don’t let your tongue cut your throat," warned another.

The virus was written in a Visual basic language, which is a common desktop programming language. Visual basic malwares were used in past because of a limitation that it runs on Windows system.

A spokesperson for cybersecurity firm Dell SecureWorks, who was brought to clean up the after-damage caused to the company and determine its actual cause, denied to comment on the issue due to the policy made by the company not to discuss work done for a customer.

Also, the company spokesman Ron Reese declined to comment on the details provided in the report published by Bloomberg, saying, "I'm not going to confirm anything that was speculated or written in the Bloomberg story."

Data Exchange with Smartwatch are Vulnerable for Hackers

Security researchers have demonstrated that the data sent between a Smartwatch and an Android smartphone is not too secure and could be a subject to brute force hacks by attackers to intercept and decode users' data, including everything from text messages to Google Hangout chats and Facebook conversations.

Well this happens because the bluetooth communication between most Smartwatches and Android devices rely on a six-digit PIN code in order to transfer information between them in a secure manner. Six-digit Pin means approx one million possible keys, which can be easily brute-forced by attackers into exposing entire conversations in plain text.

Researchers from the Romania-based security firm Bitdefender carried out a proof-of-concept hack against a Samsung Gear Live smartwatch and a paired Google Nexus 4 handset running Android L Preview. Only by using sniffing tools available at that moment, the researchers found that the PIN obfuscating the Bluetooth connection between both devices was easily brute forced by them.

Brute force attack is where a nearby hacker attempts every possible combination until finding the correct one. Once found the right match, they were able to monitor the information transferring between the smartwatch and the smartphone.

The researchers explained that their findings were "pretty consistent with [their] expectations" and without a great deal of effort, an encrypted communications between wearable technology and smartphones could be cracked and left open to prying eyes.
This new discovery is important particularly for those who are concerned about their personal data, and considering the increase in the market of smartwatches and wearable devices at the moment, the discovery will definitely made you to think before using one.

VIDEO DEMONSTRATION

You can watch the Proof-of-Concept video below, ran on a Samsung Gear Live smartwatch and a paired Google Nexus 4 device running Android L Preview.

HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM SUCH ATTACKS

To protect yourself to be a victim of such attacks, use Near Field Communication (NFC) to safely transmit a PIN code to compatible smartwatches during pairing, but that would likely increase the cost and complexity of the devices. In addition, "using passphrases is also tedious as it would involve manually typing a possibly randomly generated string onto the wearable smartwatch," the report said.

Another option is to use original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) by Google as an alternative to make data transfers between either device more secure. "Or we could supersede the entire Bluetooth encryption between Android device and smartwatch and use a secondary layer of encryption at the application level," the

The Pirate Bay is Down After a Server Room Raid in Stockholm

The Pirate Bay - infamous Torrent website predominantly used to share copyrighted material such as films, TV shows and music files, free of charge — went dark from the internet on Tuesday after Swedish Police raided the site's server room in Stockholm and seized several servers and other equipment.

The Pirate Bay allows users to share files, including copyrighted content such as movies and music, through peer-to-peer technology.

Since its launch in 2003, The Pirate Bay (TPB) becomes the world's largest torrent tracker site which handles requests from millions of users everyday and is in the top 100 most visited websites on the Internet. Generally, it is infamous for potentially hosting illegal contents on its website.

The piracy site knocked offline worldwide on Tuesday morning and remained unavailable for several hours, but the site appeared back online in the late hours with a new URL hosted under the top-level domain for Costa Rica.

Paul Pintér, national coordinator for IP enforcement for the Swedish police, issued only a brief statement on Tuesday, saying that the operation was "a crackdown on a server room in Greater Stockholm" that was "in connection with violations of copyright law."

The raid comes almost a month after the arrest of Fredrik Neij, the third and final founder of The Pirate Bay, at the border between Laos and Thailand on November 3. He was convicted by Swedish courts for sharing copyrighted material more than five years ago.

Fredrik Neij – known online as "TiAMO", third and the last founder of the popular file sharing website The Pirate Bay has been arrested driving across the border of Laos and Thailand.
The 36-year-old fugitive Fredrik Neij was convicted by a Swedish court in 2009 of aiding copyright infringement and now he has been arrested under an Interpol warrant after four years on the run.

Not just The Pirate Bay, the torrent portal's forum, Suprbay.org, image-hosting website Bayimg.com, and text-hosting website Pastebay.net, along with a number of other torrent-related sites including EZTV, Zoink, Torrage and the Istole tracker, have also been knocked offline in this most recent crackdown on the sharing of copyrighted material.

The Pirate Bay  cached is still on Google indexed you can still search for pirated content.

Trick I used to download illegal material was to use google search .

  1.     Search for the illegal material you're looking to procure + thepiratebay
  2.     Click on "cached"
  3.     Click on "Text-only version" if you want it to load faster
  4.     Click on "Get this torrent"
  5.     Download the actual illegal material with your ad-riddled intellectual theft software

Isa itong snapshot ng pahina bilang paglitaw nito sa 9 Dis 2014 10:50:35 GMT.

They had a bunch of servers hosting a cloud version of it across the world

E- Cigarette Chargers made in China contain Computer Virus

E-cigarettes have become the latest vector for hackers to distribute malicious software. E-cigarettes manufactured in China are reportedly being used to spread malware via a USB port to computers when users plug in for charging it up.

It's better for smokers to quit smoking. Are you using electronic cigarettes (E-cigarettes) instead normal ones?? Still, you should quit your smoking habit, because it not only damages your health, but could pose a danger risk to the health of your computer.

The report broke when an executive at a "large corporation" had been infected with malware from an undetermined source after he quit smoking and switched to e-cigarettes made in China, detailed a recent post to social news forum Reddit.
