Google is looking for Self-Driving Vehicle Operator/Operations $20/hr

Google is paying $20 an hour for drivers, or "self-driving vehicle operators," to cruise around Phoenix, Arizona and its suburbs testing out its self-driving cars.

It's the job that you never you knew you wanted: Driving a car that doesn't need to be driven for six to eight hours a day.

"(Test drivers) give our engineers feedback about how our cars are driving and interacting with others on the road, and can take control of the vehicle if needed," said Brian Torcellini, head of operations for Google's Self-Driving Car test program.

It's not just taking a nap while the "car drives you," according to the job description. You'll need to maintain a "constant focus," while providing ongoing feedback to Google's engineering team. The company's also looking for someone with a clean driving record who can type at least 40 words per minute.

Develop a unique set of operational skills using vehicles running proprietary software and hardware. Operate comfortably in a fast-paced environment, sometimes managing up to four communication channels simultaneously via various high- and low-tech mediums. Work on cutting-edge technology and provide engineers with detailed, accurate feedback.

In addition, you'll be in the car with a partner, so if you're thinking you can just goof off in a car for eight hours, you're probably not going to like the job as much as you think. On the other hand, Cheech had to meet Chong somewhere, so maybe you and your partner can figure something out?

"The role of test driver is so new that there isn’t a particular type of person that we look for," Torcellini told the Arizona Republic, almost certainly not considering the type of person that was just described. "We’ve hired people from all types of backgrounds, from English teachers to orbital welders. In general, they need to be excellent drivers who pay really close attention to the road and can predict the social aspects of driving. Local drivers will be great for testing in the Phoenix area because they know the roads and local driving norms better."

The expansion of the program already in place in Mountain View, California; Austin, Texas; and Kirkland, Washington in an effort to see how the vehicles perform in Arizona's desert conditions and incredible summer heat, according to Mashable.

Must pass a number of training checkpoints, both in and out of the car. Expected to keep all project details confidential. Clean driving history required. You can apply for the job right here.

Summary of Primary Duties:
  •     Drive 6-8 hours a day, five days a week.
  •     Working individually and in small groups of 2-10 people.
  •     Monitor software systems with constant focus.
  •     Provide concise written and oral feedback to the engineering team.
  •     Complete daily reports and document procedures and tests.
  •     Be open to travel (up to a month at a time).
  •     Raise the bar of excellence for the rest of the team!

Requirements
  •     BS/BA degree.
  •     Excellent verbal communication skills.
  •     Excellent written communication skills. Must be able to type at least 40wpm.
  •     Clean driving history and no criminal history

Enjoy being in a car with someone day after day..

Flash Plus 2 Official Press Release

Flash surpasses the definition of metal with its new Flash Plus 2

May 18, 2016 | Flash upgrades the excellent photographing DNA of the Flash series with the launch of its new Flash Plus 2. But on top of its rich, experiential camera features, the newest addition to the Flash roster also boasts of pioneering functions such as fingerprint recognition, Hi-Fi sound effect, and fast battery charging—all boxed in a sophisticated metal case designed for the high- and medium-end market.

Flash has finally responded to its users’ concerns by offering a smartphone that surpasses user convenience, sound effects and battery usage. According to Albert Wong, General Manager of Flash 3C Limited, the continuous innovation of the Flash series marks the brand’s independence.

“The independence of the Flash brand means we have entered a complete new stage of development. What remains unchanged is that we will consistently follow the mission of Flash at its birth and stay connected with the young Internet consumers who enjoy sharing and pursue quality. We will get to know their specific needs through continuous interaction to create high quality smart hardware that is fun and enjoyable, offering the users a lifestyle of seeking our true selves,” Wong said.

A Craft of Quality Workmanship
In order to create better feel of texture for appearance, Flash Plus 2 adopts a metal framework for the phone that allows it to possess the unique glow and touch of metal through quality workmanship while retaining its sleek and sophisticated aesthetics. The forge and grinding of the back of the phone case went through an array of complex processes ranging from horizontal wire-drawing, high-speed side sand-blasting, ultralight rim diamond cutting, and twice anodization.

In complying with the ethos of tending to detail, the all-new Flash Plus 2 adopts diamond cutting and twice anodic oxidation technologies for the 0.4mm rim of the Home key, for the 0.15mm sound volume key, and for the 0.4mm rim of flash lamp and speaker - each bit of this contributing to the aesthetics of smart phone body.

With the amalgamation of these processes, a new top-of-the-line smartphone is born—and it’s here to offer users a sense of warmth and vigor for the cold, hard metal work.

A Device of Efficiency and Convenience

Based on study of smart phone users’ habits, Flash Plus 2 carries a frontal fingerprint recognition function that combines the dual criteria of external aesthetics and practical convenience. The fingerprint use experience makes Flash Plus 2 a perfect assistant of life and office efficiency, ranging from accurate fast unlocking to file encryption to one-stroke APP launch.

The fingerprint recognition of Flash Plus 2 is unique in that it not only offers 0.5s unlocking under “switch off” screen status and all-round accurate recognition, but also allows for personalized APP launch options corresponding to users’ five fingerprints. For instance, users can conveniently unlock camera App through touching the fingerprint module with their forefingers, without going through any tedious procedure.

To prevent document theft and privacy leak, Flash Plus 2 provides a function of documents protection cabinet where privacy information is stored and encrypted with fingerprint, leaving users assured of their security even when the smartphone is not on their hands.

Another big edge that highlights the efficiency of Flash Plus 2 is its fast charging capability that best relieves users of battery capacity concerns. In order to ensure faster charging efficiency while maintaining safety, Flash Plus 2 carries a 3,000mAh battery group and adopts TI BQ25896 fast-charging chip and 9V/1.67A fast-charging technologies provided by Texas Instruments of the United States, which can charge battery to 50% in 30 minutes for up to a 10-hour uninterrupted call. The charging efficiency is raised by 35% compared with 5V/1A phones while it takes only 2 hours for the battery to be fully charged - the time of watching a movie or finishing a meal before the power status of your phones is fully restored.

A Fun and Excitement Camera Phone

Carrying over the optimum photographing function of the Flash brand, the new Flash Plus 2 launched a comprehensive upgrading of the two aspects of photo-taking capabilities: fast focal adjustment and dark light shooting. The users can capture sweet moments in a faster and better fashion during fleeting occasions or wonderful night scenes. For fast-moving objects, you’d be glad to know that the new Flash Plus 2 allows one-stroke fingerprint launch of camera with only 0.1s instant accurate focal adjustment through the blending of PDAF automatic focus technology and contrast focus effects.

Furthermore, Flash upgraded the power of its camera light. To ensure high-quality image effect even under low light conditions, the Flash Plus 2 is made with a 13,000-pixel rear lens with the warm double-color flash lamp RealTone that copes with nighttime or dim indoor luminous intensity. It frees users of the restraints of dim light conditions to see a perfect whole world as well.

The five million pixel front lens adopts LED flash lamp with CRI up to 80 while red spectrum is intelligently enhanced for selfie or video chatting conditions. With ruddy facial effect and glow, Flash Plus 2 offers an over 100% real-time facial enhancement function, allowing users to capture moments of beauty and beyond.

Flash is also taking your photography to the next level with the smartphone’s series of creative functions. For example, the 84.40 ultra-broad view that it carries allows users to do a selfie during family or friends gatherings. The “Picture-in-Picture” Mode allows front and rear lenses to work simultaneously to accomplish a creative photo-in-photo experience. What’s more, the Flash Plus 2 carries a Child Mode for parents to record precious moments of their kids’ childhood, which creates a noise of sheep, car horn or kitten to catch your child’s attention when the photo is being taken.

A Wonderful Experience of Enjoying Music
The incredible features of the Flash Plus 2 is not limited to aesthetics and futuristic photography alone. In fact, it carries with it a high-fidelity, quality-retaining earphone acoustics, high sound volume effects, and MIX music production function, making it a smart device for music lovers.

For single-person enjoyment, Flash Plus 2 provides independent AKM4375 audio decoding chip coupled with state-of-the-art IRD sound digital filter, with value-retaining signal output measuring up to high-fidelity acoustic effects. While the speaker is being used for playing music, the NXP980 power amplification chip and built-in DSP algorithm drives speaker power to reach 3.6W - eight times greater than the volume of average smart phones.

More Cutting-edge Features of Hardware and Software
The Flash Plus 2 features high-definition screen, powerful performance, Android M system, and dual channel turbo download, among other functions. The 5.5’ FHD multiple point touchscreen adopts OGS full cohesion technology, with ultra-clear scenes within reach of a finger touch. Meanwhile, it carries Miravision 2.0 FHD display that enables smart eye protection in too strong or weak luminous situations, providing a wonderful visual experience of perfect clearness and comfort.

Furthermore, the new smartphone’s Helio P10 processor ensures strong performance and low energy consumption in providing smooth, free “cut back” through multitasking operation of surfing the Internet, playing games, and watching videos.

As a new member of Flash brand, Flash Plus 2 continues the original Android system support while the all-new upgraded Android M operational system offers APP access control, web browsing, APP relevance, and smart energy-saving function, among others. For global Android lovers and tech geeks, it offers a streamlined, personalized user experience.

The all-new Flash Plus 2 comes in two color options - Luna Silver and Venus Gold, providing a high-end customized choice appealing to refined taste.

How to play and download 3D SBS and 360 videos on Android VR Headset

The two main factors to consider are the resolution and the gyroscope.
Many NEW phones have gyroscopes, but many phones only a year old do not. The new VR and AR applications for smartphones such as google cardboard give a totally new use for everyday smartphones. Hence the need for a gyroscope. My phone has an octo core processor ( Alcatel Flash 2), yet doesn't have a gyro.

Also make sure the phone has Full HD(1920x1080) Display coz on HD display(1280x720) phone you'll see tiny pixels when you see them through the head mount. You're GPU should be on the high end as well to rendering everything twice over for VR.

The gyroscope, or gyro for short, adds an additional dimension to the information supplied by the accelerometer by tracking rotation or twist. An accelerometer measures linear acceleration of movement, while a gyro on the other hand measures the angular rotational velocity.Angular velocity is generally expressed in deg/s (degrees per second).

You can still use accelerometer you can look Up and Down /tilt on 180 or 360 videos or VR app games , but no Left or Right or rotational viewing.

The only work around I have heard of, is someone figured out a way to use a bluetooth/remote, gyroscope mouse. then attached it ti the vr headset.goofy looking, but it apparently worked.

How to play SBS and 360 videos on android VR Headset

1.  Download VR player on Google play there lots free VR player to choose. Sample is VaRs  VR video player.

2. Select Your Videos on Gallery

3. The VaRs players user friendly.

Select No VR - If you playing already split into two videos, dedicated to 3D video that has been shot in side by side (SBS) format.

Select STATIC - If your watch ordinary video none  180 or 360 this is like watching movie on Cinema.

Select (Blank) - If you want the screen moving (if follows your head movement) it doesn't matter if is a normal movie

Select  Vertical or Horizontal - This are special mostly 360 or 180 videos split into two they are Vertical or Horizontal.

Sample Videos

How to Download 3D SBS and 360 videos on Android

 1. Download Tubemate or Google the OsmTubemate , Tubemate support many videos hosting site like Facebook, YouKu , Vimeo, Dailymotion and Youtube.

 2.  Search any 360 videos, click the download button and select best format for your device.

NOTE: If you select 1920 and up  you need to install "Mp3 Video Converter" Tubemate will ask you to install it ( pop out a new tab link Google Playstore) to convert the AAC audio correctly.

Now  you can watch 180 and 360 degree video on your VR Headgear. Happy Viewing!!

YouTube had teased VR enthusiats back in March 2015 with the addition of 360 video support for mobile devices and Chrome, as well as support for 60 FPS video—two things that point towards a strong interest in VR. Followed by Facebook and other Videos hosting site.

With a recent update to the Android YouTube app, Google Cardboard-compatible smartphones can now view 360-degree video in side-by-side configuration.

The video streaming giant quietly rolled out VR support for their 2D 360-degree videos earlier this month, with no official mention in either their blog or other official information outlets. Only monoscopic videos are currently among those supported for VR viewing.

To access the VR function on 360 videos, first search for the videos by typing #360Video into the mobile app’s search field. Compatible videos should show the symbol below.

You can then pick a video and start playback. You’ll then have the option to switch to VR mode. Just touch the Google Cardboard icon.

On the lower right-hand side and insert your Android smartphone into VR or AR Headgear. Now look around and check it out! .

Everything is possible if you change another way looking to this world. -VR BOX

CAPTAIN AMERICA ELECTROMAGNET SHIELD

Electromagnet Captain America uses in Age of Ultron to retract his shield, and it actually works with replica Captain America shield. A man name James Hobson made a real Captain America Shield using Industrial Electromagnets that can lift up to 730 Kg with 7200N Power.

The idea for this project pop out after watching Avengers: Age of Ultron.

If you’re not familiar, it appears Captain America gets a suit upgrade (presumably from Stark himself) that features some pretty awesome embedded electromagnets allowing him to call his shield back to him from afar.

Now unfortunately, electromagnets aren’t that strong and it wouldn’t be able to achieve quite the same effect as good ol’ CGI.

The originally planned on making electromagnets using microwave oven transformers, similar to [Colin Furze’s] electromagnet boots, but ended up purchasing some industrial ones instead. At 12V they’re rated for 1200N, capable of lifting approximately 120kg. Using two, that’s 240kg — more than enough, right?

WRONG!

According to James Hobson it needed more power. "We crossed our fingers for engineering safety factors and slowly ramped up the voltage all the way to 72V. "

"Not being an actual superhero, my arm needs padding, lots and lots of padding. So we started with a pair shin / knee pads that happen to fit my arm pretty well, provide good padding, and good structure to mount to. Next, we welded up a frame around the bracer with a handle to hold onto. A good strong handle is essential for holding the 30lbs of magnets and shield. The handle is also a good place for the button so we cut out a pocket and dropped in a 50A momentary push button. A little bit of hockey tape and was good to go."

The hacksmith GIF  powering this monster with 3 lithium polymer battery packs from hobby king. Lithium batteries are awesome. Each of these batteries can pump out up to 175A at 24V.

"It was then time for the magnets. We first experimented with the primary coil of a microwave transformer and these worked pretty well. Good strength but a lot of current and a lot of heat which is a problem for wearable tech. Magnetic force if linearly proportional to both the number of coils and current. Therefore by increasing the number of coils, we can reduce the current and heat while maintaining the same magnetic force. Instead of winding thousands of coils ourselves, we bought some industrial electromagnets from Amazon.  These things are powerful! At just 12v and 1.5A they will lift over 260 lbs. That means by running them at 72V, each magnet will pull close to 1600lbs… for a short period of time before they overheat and burn out. I love safety factors. Conveniently, they also come with an m8 threaded hole on the back so we bolted them right onto the arm bracer.  For the purpose of expedience, we ignored the fact that electromagnets are large inductors will probably destroy our 50A power button. It’s ok. They are cheap."

Captain America is nothing without his shield… MachinaProps makes solid aluminum replica shields and replica Captain American leather jacket from SleekHides on Amazon. . These things are the real deal. Check out how they make them below.

From there, it was time to suit up and put this electromagnet gauntlet — and the shield — through their paces.
