QR code

We all know that one of the keys to great SEO is making sure you keep your website updated, new and fresh. Whether you do this with a blog, or you change your homepage with new offers, coupons or new products, it serves to show Google that your site is “alive.” For many small businesses in particular, this is a real challenge.

So you already have great, fresh content on your site—what’s next? Do you know what is coming that may benefit your small business?

Have you heard of QR codes yet? Here is a quick introduction:

What Are QR codes?

They look like this:
They come to us from Japan where they are very common. QR is short for Quick Response (they can be read quickly by a cell phone). They are used to take a piece of information from a transitory media and put it in to your cell phone. You may soon see QR Codes in a magazine advert, on a billboard, a web page or even on someone’s t-shirt. Once it is in your cell phone, it may give you details about that business (allowing users to search for nearby locations), or details about the person wearing the t-shirt, show you a URL which you can click to see a trailer for a movie, or it may give you a coupon which you can use in a local outlet.

The reason why they are more useful than a standard barcode is that they can store (and digitally present) much more data, including url links, geo coordinates, and text. The other key feature of QR Codes is that instead of requiring a chunky hand-held scanner to scan them, many modern cell phones can scan them. The full Wikipedia description is here.

How cell phone read the code?
The cell phone needs a QR code reader, like this one from Kaywa. It takes literally 1 minute for someone with an iPhone or Android phone to find and install the reader.

How could you use a QR code?
Your business, no matter how small or large, could use QR codes in a number of ways. You might auto generate one next to every product on your web site containing all the product details, the number to call and the URL link to the page so they can show their friends on their cell phone. You could add one to your business card containing your contact details so its easy for someone to add you to their contacts on their cell phone.
Add them to any print advertising, flyers, posters, invites, TV ads etc containing:
  • Product details
  • Contact details
  • Offer details
  • Event details
  • Competition details
  • A coupon
  • Twitter, Facebook, MySpace IDs
  • A link to your YouTube video

Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing)

If you want to share one Internet connection among several computers, you have two options:

How does ICS work?

First, you'll need one computer, called the host computer, that's connected to the Internet and that has a separate connection to the other computers on your network. You'll enable ICS on the Internet connection. The other computers on your network then connect to the host computer, and from there to the Internet through the host computer's shared Internet connection.

Enabling ICS

To enable ICS, on your host computer:
  1. Right-click the connection that you want to share, and then click Properties. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. Click the Sharing tab, and then select the Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection check box.

Exmaple :  source is WiFi to LAN is your Out Put to router.

    Notes

    • The Sharing tab won't be available if you have only one network connection.
    • You can choose whether to select the Allow other network users to control or disable the shared Internet connection check box.
    • Optionally, to allow other network users to use services running on your network, click Settings, and then select the services you want to allow.
When you enable ICS, your local area network (LAN) connection gets a new static IP address and configuration, so you'll need to reestablish any TCP/IP connections between your host computer and the other network computers.
To test your network and Internet connection, see if you can share files between computers and make sure each computer can reach a website.

Configure TCP/IP

To use ICS, make sure the local area network (LAN) connection on each network computer is configured to get an IP address automatically. To do this:
  1. Right-click the LAN connection, and then click Properties. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) or Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6), and then click Properties.
  3. Click Obtain an IP address automatically or Obtain an IPv6 address automatically, and then click OK.
The Internet options on your network computers should also be configured for ICS. For more information, see Change Internet settings for ICS (Internet Connection Sharing).
Don't use ICS on a network with domain controllers, DNS servers, gateways, or DHCP servers. And don't use ICS on systems configured for static IP addresses.

ICS and VPN connections

If you create a virtual private network (VPN) connection on your host computer to a corporate network and then enable ICS on that connection, all Internet traffic is routed to the corporate network and all of the computers on your home network can access the corporate network. If you don't enable ICS on the VPN connection, other computers won't have access to the Internet or corporate network while the VPN connection is active on the host computer.

ICS and ad hoc networks

If you share your Internet connection on an ad hoc network, ICS will be disabled if:
  • You disconnect from the ad hoc network.
  • You create a new ad hoc network without disconnecting from the ad hoc network for which you enabled ICS.
  • You log off and then log back on (without disconnecting from the ad hoc network).

Example :  WiFi  to  Adhoc (Microsoft wireless mini port)

Self Powered Vehicle

An inventor from the Philippines ( Ismael Aviso)has demonstrated a bare bones electric vehicle with an 11-kW
DC motor running on just one 12-volt battery, which is kept charged via an antenna circuitry that draws electrostatic or radio wave energy from the surroundings. He's also developed a super-efficient repelling force that he wants to engineer into an engine. Filipino have invented the Video Karaoke and Water fueled Car known anonymous in the world.

Google Self Driving Car License by Nevada DMV

Google announced their self-driving car project in 2010 to make driving safer, more enjoyable, and more efficient. Having safely completed over 200,000 miles of computer-led driving, we wanted to share one of our favorite moments. Here's Steve, who joined us for a special drive on a carefully programmed route to experience being behind the wheel in a whole new way. We organized this test as a technical experiment, but we think it's also a promising look at what autonomous technology may one day deliver if rigorous technology and safety standards can be met.I don't  know how to drive this is perfect for me ..

The license was issued by Nevada’s Department of Motor Vehicles and comes less than a year after the state first allowed Google to start testing a fleet of self-driving Toyota Prius hybrids on its roads.

The issuing of the license also comes just one week after Google announced it was seeking a partnership with a major automaker to accelerate the development of its autonomous car technology and eventually start mass production.

Google has been developing the technology for several years now, but the tipping point came when Nevada officials were offered a ride along across highways, in Carson City neighborhoods and along the Las Vegas strip, reports Reuters.

Currently, Nevada’s DMV is processing applications for the special license from a handful of other firms and eventually it plans to issue them to members of the public. Google has stated in the past that it’s not prepared to sell its technology until it’s proven to be safe and that an agreement can be made with insurance firms as to who is liable in the case of a crash.

The license still requires at least two people in the car during all times that its autonomous mode is in use--one person, presumably with a license, to sit behind the wheel in case human intervention is required and a second to monitor for objects not in the vehicle’s direct path of travel.

The technology itself relies on a system of video cameras, radar sensors and lasers mounted all around the car, as well as a database of mapping information. In the future, it’s likely cars will communicate with each other as well as with roadside objects to help them detect and navigate around objects.

Download Atomix Virtual DJ Pro 7.0.5 Build 370.by.Darkside

Digital deejaying has skyrocketed in popularity over the past five years and it's no wonder why. Compared to a full vinyl setup with all the hardware and physical media it requires, an MP3-based mixing station is extremely simple and cheap. There's even free software to get you started, and one of the most popular programs available is Virtual DJ.
Virtual DJ is often packaged with USB-based hardware mixing consoles from the likes of Hercules and Numark, and, in fact, if you really want to delve into the full array of features, such devices are going to be a necessity--and they'll require a $99 license fee to upgrade to the Pro version of the software. That said, you can download the app for free by itself and make very basic mixes and playlists.
While the program isn't specifically geared at newbies, it is intuitive enough for a musically inclined individual to use right off the bat. Once installed, Virtual DJ automatically populates a folder tree in the bottom left corner where you can easily access your music collection. The bottom middle serves as a tabbed, multifunction area where you can browse tracks, sample music bites, add effects, and make recordings.
The top of the window is dominated by two digital turntables, which are distinguished by color: blue on the left and red on the right. Each one has the ability to cue, loop, adjust pitch, scratch, and shift (among other features). In the middle is the mixing console, where you can adjust the gain and master volume, as well as transition between the two tracks. Once the songs have been dragged and dropped into the console, a bar along the top displays the sound waves of each to help with visual mixing. There's also a video input option that lets you create montages to the music.
The stylish interface and high number of features score points, but learning how to use the program is a hit-or-miss proposition. To be perfectly honest, using it without mixing hardware (that is, just a mouse and keyboard) is a challenge, and not one we enjoyed, so we recommend hooking up a compatible USB controller. Also worth a look: the thorough online user guide.
Virtual DJ is free, fully featured, and well-laid-out. It's a useful option both for aspiring mixers and newbies.
