Download for free Office 2013, Office 2016, Office 365 with these direct links

Office 2013

This is the RTM/final version that can be used for 60 days without any limitations (i.e. it is a trial version). The suite includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Access, Infopath, Visio viewer, Publisher and Lync. Note that the linked files below are reasonably large downloads; 667MB and 769MB respectively. (And should you wish to read it, you'll find our review of Office 2013 here).

Office 365

If Office 365 is what you're after, be aware that there is no offline installer for it. As is the case with Skype, you will get a tiny package that will then download the actual application. Note that the trial period is only 30 days, and also a valid Microsoft account is a prerequisite for downloading the initial application. If you haven't got one, you'll need to set one up. You'll also need to provide payment info to partake of the free trial.

 Office 2016

When this article was first published, it was before the release of Office 2016 when you could download a preview version to try for free. Obviously post-release, that isn't the case anymore – and there's no trial version of Office 2016. Therefore if you want to try out Office for free, you'll need to dip into Office 365 (see above).

However, the below links we provided with the original article still work to download the installer for Office 2016 (this then grabs the Office 2016 setup files on-demand). Of course, be aware that obviously you will need a product key to successfully install the suite.

Office 2010 and Office 2007

Microsoft quietly took down all its download servers that used to house hundreds of ISO files, many of them on Digitalriver. This means that you won't be able to download offline installers legally for Office 2010 and Office 2007.

As such, there are no legal ways of providing a direct download route to Office 2007 – the only way you can get a download copy is by using the linked Office 2007 download URL for free and entering your product key which will then pull the qualifying Office 2007 product.

Nutella is linked to Cancer

The report by EFSA said palm oil is more carcinogenic than any other oil, echoing similar claims made by the World Health Organisation. Several retailers in Italy – including Coop, the country's biggest supermarket chain – have even boycotted the chocolate and hazelnut spread over the claims.

Foods that contain palm oil could pose a cancer risk, according to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), and Nutella has so far faced the brunt of the public backlash.

Other popular products that contain palm oil include Cadbury's chocolate, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream and Clover spread, reported The Independent.

But Ferrero, which makes the spread, has hit back by launching an advertising campaign to assure people that its product is safe. Nutella is the company's flagship product and makes up about a fifth of its sales, The Telegraph reported.

Palm oil is dangerous because it produces compounds called glycidyl fatty acid esters (GE) when it's heated above 200 degrees celsius, a process involved in the manufacturing of many foods.

“There is sufficient evidence that glycidol is genotoxic and carcinogenic," said Dr Helle Knutsen, chair of Contam, the EFSA panel that investigated palm oil in May. "Therefore the Contam panel did not set a safe level for GE.”

These compounds can also be found in other vegetable oils, margarines and processed foods, but they are found in higher, potentially dangerous, amounts in palm oil, the ESFA report said.

The company said it will keep using palm oil in Nutella, despite fears over its safety, to preserve the spread's quality. The oil is apparently used to give the spread its smooth texture, Ferrero said, adding that no other oils would work in the same way.
Vincenzo Tapella, Ferrero's purchasing manager, told Reuters: “Making Nutella without palm oil would produce an inferior substitute for the real product, it would be a step backward."

Ferrero didn't mention that palm oil is one of the cheapest oils and that switching to alternative oils, such as sunflower or rapeseed, could increase the cost of making Nutella by up to as $22m (£18m), Reuters reported. Ferrero hasn't yet commented on these figures.

Bye Yahoo - Hello ALTABA

The saddest part of the whole saga is the end of one of Silicon Valley's most recognizable leaders.
Founded by Stanford graduates Jerry Yang and David Filo in 1994, Yahoo was once the king of the Internet, but it lost out to more innovative rivals including Google and Facebook.

Yahoo was once a $125 billion behemoth as big in its time as Facebook or Google are today, but Mayer's time at the company has been marred by slowing growth and internal dissent, which leads to the end of one of the pioneers of the early internet era.

Yahoo's core internet business was being sold to Verizon for $4.8 Billion, the remaining portions of the company left behind is renaming itself to Altaba Inc, which marks the sad ending of one of the most familiar brand names on the internet.

In a public filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday, the company announced that after the planned sale of its core business to telecom giant Verizon, the leftover would change its brand name to Altaba.

So, the company's branding you are familiar with will integrate with Verizon, and it is possible that the telecom titan may continue to use the Yahoo brand for some of the services that it will acquire in the deal.

The newly formed company will operate as an investment company, and only five board members will remain at the company including Tor Braham, Catherine Friedman, Eric Brandt, Jeffrey Smith and Thomas McInerney.

The rest of the company's board, including Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer and co-founder David Filo, will step down from Altaba Inc. Mayer may be appointed for a role in Yahoo's integration at Verizon, though her position has yet to be announced.
