Riot Games Suing Several Mobile Game Creator For Ripping Off League Of Legends Content

League of Legends owner Riot Games has filed a lawsuit against a mobile game developer known as Shanghai Moonton Technology for copyright infringement of Riot Games' intellectual property.

The company in question that's being faced with the lawsuit is responsible for creating several games such as Magic Rush: Heroes, Mobile Legends: 5v5 MOBA, and Mobile Legends: Bang bang, all of which are games that are included in the lawsuit as examples of the company utilizing Riot's properties. According to the lawsuit that Riot issued, these three games have "a vast array of elements that were directly and deliberately appropriated from LoL, including but not limited to LoL’s characters, artwork, map designs, and unit and monster designs."

This lawsuit isn't the first time that Riot Games has interacted with Shanghai Moonton though. Before Mobile Legends: Bang bang, Shanghai Moonton's game Mobile Legends: 5v5 MOBA was available for download via the Google Play store and was basically the same game that Mobile Legends: Bang bang is now. When Riot Games notified the store, Shanghai Moonton took the game down and later reinstated it within the Google Play store with a few tweaks to the gameplay and under the new name of Mobile Legends: Bang bang. The lawsuit that was filed contains examples of occasions within the game where characters and abilities were allegedly taken directly from League of Legends.



If you take a look at the game's page within the Google Play store, you can browse through a couple of screenshots that show several characters from the game that are quite similar to some of the champions of League of Legends. A trailer also shows some gameplay taking place in a map that very much resembles Summoner's Rift.
While the lawsuit is justified as it definitely appears accurate that the content was pulled from League of Legends, some users of both games have already expressed conflicted opinions about the legal action. Players have said that while it's fair, Mobile Legends: Bang bang has been reviewed as one of the smoother mobile MOBA options, one that might not be on the market for too much longer.

RED Hydrogen One smartphone with a ‘holographic display’

The World's First Holographic Media Machine in Your Pocket, No Glasses Needed

High-end camera maker RED has just announced a premium smartphone called Hydrogen One, and the headlining feature is something the company is referring to as a “holographic display.” A buzzword-filled press release for Hydrogen One says that the 5.7-inch display somehow uses nanotechnology to “seamlessly [switch] between traditional 2D content, holographic multi-view content, 3D content, and interactive games.”

RED founder Jim Jannard says “there is no good way to describe it until you see it.” He also writes that “our display is technology you haven’t seen before. It is not lenticular, which is inferior tech in every way, has been tried many times before and failed for good reason.


RED says that it will also use an algorithm to convert stereo sound into “multi-dimensional audio” to add to the immersive experience — or, as RED puts it, to “ASSAULT YOUR SENSES.” The phone will allow for modular attachments, similar to those found on the Moto Z line or the Essential Phone, but with a special focus on image capture. And the phone will work (somehow) with RED’s extensive lineup of digital cinema cameras.

The company writes that the design of the phone may change, but more importantly, “after this initial release we will NOT be able to fill all orders on time due to display production limitations. We will NOT guarantee these prices at the time of release.” The modular attachments won’t be available at launch, either.

Otherwise, Hydrogen One sounds like any other relatively beefed-up Android phone, though we don’t know exact specs. If you tweak the brightness of the photo, you can see a very grippy design, and a relatively small camera bump. It will use USB Type-C, it has a microSD slot for expandable storage, and yes — it has a headphone jack.

The company says the phone will ship in early 2018, and it’s currently available for preorder on RED’s website. It starts at $1,195 for the aluminum version, and there’s also a $1,595 variant made out of titanium.
